We love babies!
It’s all about oxytocin. I started my education career in childcare centers. Then I taught elementary school. After that I shifted to computer coordinator for a school district. I have been a business partner in two small businesses and founder of my marketing consulting firm. While I was always successful, something was missing for me. I yearned for more meaning and the ability to have a direct positive impact on others. BirthLink grew out of my love for babies and families. I had also experienced the power of childbirth and wanted women to know what they might be missing.
My skills were put to good use and before I knew it we had grown the Chicagoland Childbirth and Family Wellness network. We are a member based group that encourages the midwifery model, undisturbed birth, immediate infant bonding, long term breastfeeding and conscious connected parenting. Small businesses who want to work with families, during the child-bearing years (and beyond), joined us to form a wonderful resource.
Back in 1996 it was one print ad in a local parenting magazine, a phone and me. It helped that I had computer skills so I could keep track of millions of bits of information. A board member offered to build our first web site. I locked myself in my cabin in Wisconsin and wrote the content for our first web site in the early 2000s. Birth options consultations were offered as my knowledge and skills grew. I was the self appointed mother of the birth community. I love working with couples who want to make informed decisions for better births. I am a birth advocate and educator committed to building strong families.
